The Houston Rockets, established in 1967, have carved out a storied legacy in the NBA with their dynamic play and strategic prowess. They boast two NBA Championships (1994 and 1995) under the leadership of Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon, highlighting their era of dominance. Currently owned by Tilman Fertitta, the Rockets have been known for their innovative approaches to the game, including a strong emphasis on analytics and a trendsetting focus on three-point shooting.
The Challenge
RocketsShop.com was a stand-alone Shopify Plus site since launching about 5 years prior. The team at Fertitta Entertainment was in need of a consolidated and better-integrated technology stack across their brands. Primary points of interest in a next-generation solution were:
- Fully integrated and automated inventory management for both team stores as well as e-commerce shopping.
- Accumulation and redemption of Landry’s Reward Points, gift cards, and additional payment methods such as BitPay and PayPal across all e-commerce stores, creating a true omnichannel experience.
- Better integration to back-office ERP, marketing automation (SalesForce), and shipping/fulfillment systems (ShipStation).
- More flexibility in content creation and administration.
Solution Highlights
Capo Commerce worked closely with the Rockets team to implement a multi-site enterprise Adobe Commerce Cloud platform supporting a combination of >5,000 simple and configurable SKUS with multiple points of distribution and drop ship mechanics. The project took approximately 4 months from start to launch including a comprehensive blueprinting phase.
- Integration to DataWorks for enterprise-wide inventory management via Boomi middleware
- True Omnichannel with consolidated inventory management and order processing for team store in the stadium + ecommerce store. Multi-facility fulfillment (MFF) – warehouse, team store, 3rd party suppliers direct/dropship.
- Multiple payment options such as credit card and PayPal with full PCI and 3DS compliance. Additional tenders such as BitPay, Loyalty points and Giftcards also supported. POS is InfoGenesis which was recently implemented as well.
- Product personalization such as jersey lettering
- BOPIS + In-seat ordering/delivery via mobile app
